The Erasmus+ project Streamlining AI in Learning Reimagination (SAILeR) officially began on November 1, 2025, under the Erasmus+ Key Action 2 – Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education (KA220-HED). The project is coordinated by the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI), led by Professor Blaženka Divjak, PhD, and funded by the European Commission through the Croatian National Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes (AMPEU). The total project budget is EUR 400,000, with a duration of 36 months (2025–2028).
The SAILeR project aims to empower educators to take a conductor role in designing meaningful and future-oriented learning experiences supported by artificial intelligence. Building upon the success of previous Erasmus+ projects – Innovating Learning Design in Higher Education (iLed) and Relevant Assessment and Pedagogies for Inclusive Digital Education (RAPIDE) – as well as the Croatian Science Foundation project Trustworthy Learning Analytics and Artificial Intelligence for Meaningful Learning Design (TRUELA), SAILeR will advance the integration of AI, learning design (LD), and learning analytics (LA) in higher education.
Over the next three years, the project will:
Introduce an innovative approach to Learning Design that helps educators plan, visualize, and improve their courses and study programmes with AI support.
Enhance the AI Assistant for Learning Design, enabling educators to formulate, analyze, and prioritize learning outcomes through interaction with large language models.
Integrate Learning Design with content creation, learning management systems (LMS), and learning analytics (LA) to promote data-informed and AI-assisted teaching and learning experiences.
Support curriculum innovation and study programme development by introducing agile, evidence-based approaches aligned with the Bologna principles and student-centred learning.
Advance multilingual and accessible educational technologies, ensuring that the upgraded BDP tool and AI assistant are available in multiple European languages.
Foster collaboration and capacity building among higher education institutions through workshops, training, and conferences that connect AI, learning analytics, and learning design research with everyday educational practice.
Through collaborative research, training, and dissemination, SAILeR aims to reach over 1000 educators across Europe and beyond, contributing to a more connected, digitally ready, and innovative higher education landscape.
The Story Behind the SAILeR Logo
The SAILeR logo visually captures the project’s central idea — navigating the future of learning with the power of artificial intelligence.
The sailboat represents movement, exploration, and guidance — symbolising educators and institutions charting a new course through the evolving landscape of higher education. Just as a sailor uses the wind to move forward, teachers in the AI era harness data, creativity, and technology to steer meaningful learning experiences.
The sail, formed by interconnected nodes, reflects the role of artificial intelligence as a supportive and connected force — not replacing the human element, but empowering it. The calm, balanced shades of blue communicate trust, collaboration and openness, values that define the SAILeR partnership and its vision for the future of education.
In essence, the logo embodies the project’s mission: to streamline AI in learning reimagination, guiding educators across Europe toward more innovative, inclusive, and human-centred teaching practices.
