SAILeR Partners Meet in Groningen

On 8–9 October 2026, the SAILeR project partners gathered at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, for a two-day transnational project meeting. The meeting provided an opportunity to review project progress, share research findings, demonstrate new developments, and agree on the next steps.
The meeting opened with an overview of project achievements, highlighting progress in research activities, the development of AI-supported learning design tools, and scientific publications. Partners discussed findings from literature reviews and focus groups conducted within WP2, focusing on the future of learning design and the prioritisation of learning outcomes.
A key highlight was the presentation of new functionalities in the Balanced Design Planning (BDP) tool, including Moodle course import, learning outcome prioritisation, quality assessment features, a knowledge centre, and AI-supported course and curriculum design. Partners had the opportunity to test these functionalities and provide feedback to guide further development.
Discussions also focused on the development of LeDA, the AI assistant integrated into BDP, and upcoming research activities aimed at collecting user requirements for AI-supported course and curriculum design. Partners also exchanged experiences with institutional AI solutions, addressing opportunities and challenges related to responsible AI adoption in higher education.
The meeting concluded with agreements on the next steps, including finalising research outputs, evaluating LeDA with users, and preparing study programme case studies using BDP.
The Groningen meeting strengthened collaboration among project partners and marked another important step towards empowering educators through human-centred, AI-supported learning design.
